Funfact: The B-26 had all those guns to try to intimidate the earth into moving before it crashed.

I took the kid to the bus stop and then drove back to the trenches.

What I wouldn’t give for a van with a paintball machine gun  in the frunk and a gunner to operate it....though I would adopt a no smoking policy.

No carpool for me, as it’s under a ten minute commute and the only person I could plausibly carpool with has to be at work before six. Uh, no. Even if my sister’s Buick did have a nose position with an MG.

One a day in Tampa Bay.

Fun fact about the Marauder. The thing had such a high landing speed that pilots didn’t think it could be flown on one engine. So Jimmy Doolittle himself said, “Watch me, newb s,” and proceeded to prove them wrong by taking off and landing on one engine.

You should, if you can. I can’t, so I don’t. My wife takes the bus to work, though.

Carpool? No. But I would like to start flying back and forth between Baton Rouge and Houston. I still need to get my instrument rating and a plane that is capable of flying through inclement weather. That’s the only way that commute is feasible.

Inclement weather? It never rains in Houst on.

Quit making jokes like that! I nearly fell out of my chair!

When I was working on my PPL, a couple of instructors took a plane over to Destin, FL, dropped one of the instructors off, then the other flew it back to Baton Rouge. The plan was to fly back to Destin, pick up the second instructor, then fly back to Houston. The next morning, the first instructor couldn’t get the plane to start. A third instructor hopped in the Baron twin with a mechanic and flew over to Baton Rouge to troubleshoot the problem. After getting it started, they realized there wasn’t enough time to fly to Destin, so that instructor had to pick up a commercial flight back. The third instructor and the mechanic decided to grab lunch in Baton Rouge, so the first instructor left for Houston. He kept getting vectored farther and farther south to avoid weather and he ended up flying over the Gulf and coming into Houston from the south . In the meantime, the third instructor and the mechanic left Baton Rouge, climbed up and over the weather, beating the first instructor back to Houston.

The lesson? Don’t be like the first instructor.
